It is often noted that physical therapists spend more time with and get closer to the patients than their doctors do. What a perfect doorway for ministry of the Gospel. Physical therapy is practically non-existent in the rural areas of Central America while at the same time the needs are exceedingly abundant due to the physical labor performed by most people.

Global Development Services promotes evangelism with local churches through physical therapy in the following ways:

•  Training of nationals to provide basic physical therapy through local churches;

•  Sending Physical Therapist teams to remote areas to diagnose patient problems and prescribe therapy procedures;

•  Assisting with construction and equipment for permanent therapy centers;

•  Providing business training to enable permanent centers to be self-supporting; and,

•  Serving as a depot to provide affordable therapy aids and equipment which are generally not available in the remote areas.
