Our Daily Bread

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:19

It is really an amazing thing to consider that the all-knowing, all-powerful God who created the entire universe would have any interest in us spiritually. Why would God concern himself with our petitions?

It reminds us of the of the psalmist's question, “What is man that You are mindful of him?” (Psalm 8:4) Why is the Lord interested in us? God loves us, and He has promised to meet the needs of our lives. The apostle Paul wrote, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 ). Now He may not provide all your greeds, but He will provide all your needs .

So when we pray as Jesus taught us, “Give us this day our daily bread,” it is a request for His provision. We are literally asking God to provide for our needs. And not only are we asking God to provide for us, we are affirming that He has provided for us in the past.

Everything we have is a gift from God: The roof over our heads, the food on our tables, and even our hearts that are pumping blood and the breath in our lungs. It's all given to us from God himself. We should remember that and not take it for granted.

Please pray for Itzmar Rivera. Itzmar's daughter-in-law and his grand-daughter were both killed Tuesday, August 15th, in a car accident near Chimaltenango. Itzmar's grandson is in critical care at the hospital – they don't know if he will survive. Itzmar is a Guatemalan that is on staff for the mission side of Casa del Rey. He is a very important part of the mission and staff, is bilingual and is loved by all. Please keep Itzmar and his family lifted up in your prayers.

Pray for protection for the missionary community in the country of Guatemala and around the world. Please pray for the staff of Casa del Rey as they surround Itzmar and family. Raise people up to fill in any gaps, strength and wisdom to continue making things run smoothly and protection from harm.

Continue to lift up Denny and Jan Clark as they look for triggers to Denny's asthma and continued healing for both.

Please remember to pray for the leadership of our country, the military and their families and the leadership around the world. Continue to pray for the church world wide and its' leadership.

Praise God for the birth of Jan and Denny's first Grand-daughter, Annabelle Rose Brandhorst. Born Wednesday August 16, 2006.
